Shade Tree

Transferring information into Quicken or MS Money.

Background:

Each month I  transfer closed work orders into quicken and track the income versus expenses. I find it much easier to use this program over Access for income/expense purposes and reporting functions. Time involved in this process is less than a minute.

Transaction:

You'll find it easy to use Quicken registers to keep records of your financial activities. Each entry is called a transaction.  Shade Tree Service Manager will import one transaction for each work order and split the deposit into four Categories.

Parts
Labor
Misc. shop expense
Sales Tax

From these Categories you can better track your income versus expenses.

Importing:

Quicken and Money use what they call quicken interchange format to import information into their programs.  The file extension for this is (qif).
Access can create a very clean "qif" file that can be imported into these two programs.

The default file name for quicken is "ShadeTreeQuicken.qif"  , for Money the name is "ShadeTreeMoney.qif" . Money uses a slightly different format for its qif file and must be formatted differently from Quicken.  You'll find these file/s located in the folder, Database. That assumes you created this folder when you first started to use the Shade Tree Service Manager
